With its attention to detail, sculpted styling, and innovative technology, Mazda’s lineup demonstrates the makings of a new luxury brand. Most drivers tend to compare Mazda vehicles to other Japanese marques, like Nissan, Toyota, and Honda; however, once they test drive Mazda models and their rivals, it’s clear that Mazda outpaces both its direct competitors and most premium brands.
With each new vehicle, Mazda’s designers and engineers up the ante. Although the Mazda CX-5 competes with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, the Mazda team designed a vehicle that could take on luxury crossovers, too. While priced comparably to Honda, Toyota, and Nissan, the CX-5 includes features often found in luxury models. With its exciting driving dynamics, handcrafted details, and SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, the Mazda CX-5 can challenge the Audi Q3 and Lexus NX.
Mazda also has one signature model that’s unmatched by both luxury and mass-market competitors: the MX-5 Miata roadster. Now in its fourth generation, the Mazda MX-5 Miata raises the bar for class, design, and driving experience. Most competitors don’t offer a roadster, and those that do can’t match Mazda’s pricing or style.
Experience Mazda’s commitment to quality at El Dorado Mazda.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata comes with some exciting updates, including a tuned powertrain and a new soft-top option. For those looking for the ideal roadster, the Miata might be the right answer. The latest powertrain adds an impressive 26 horsepower and 3 lb-ft of torque, while the refined exterior is bound to set you apart on the road.
According to Mazda, the Mazda MX-5 updates will include a “SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-liter engine that’s been specially tuned for the latest model year. There will also be an available brown soft top on the Grand Touring models, while a new aluminum steering column will reduce weight and improve speed. There’s also a standard rearview camera now — which is great for parallel parking — as well as available safety systems like Traffic Sign Recognition.
“The feeling you get on the open road in a lightweight roadster is unmatched. To build upon that feeling, Mazda’s engineers have enriched the 2019 MX-5 Miata’s “SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-liter engine to boast 17 percent more power and greater fuel-efficiency than last year’s model,” reads the Mazda press release.
For those looking for a little added power, you can also find a SKYACTIV®-MT system with Brembo brakes, alloy wheels, a rear bumper skirt, and more.
When you’re shopping for a new car, it’s likely you want the best of the best. Well, that now means you should be checking out the Mazda models we have on our lot because Mazda recently achieved the Best Car Brand of 2018 by U.S. News & World Report for the third year in a row.
Mazda managed to come out on top again despite having a small-sized lineup of vehicles. According to Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars, this was due to its “top-notch performance that puts an emphasis on direct, sporty handling, as well as quality interiors that are more upscale than their price tags might suggest.”
The Mazda3 outshone the competition, thanks to its impressive efficiency numbers, premium-level cabin, innovative infotainment system, and available hatchback body style. Deaton noted, “The Mazda3 is one of the sportiest compact cars on the market, but it also offers the civility and comfort required to make it an excellent daily commuting partner.”
U.S. News determined the winner of this prestigious award by averaging the overall score of every brand’s model that fit the award class. These scores are based on the publication’s own rankings, which e reliability data, safety scores, and the consensus of the automotive press to determine a vehicle’s score.
Celebrate this latest award for the brand by stopping by El Dorado Mazda to test drive your favorite model.
The Mazda6 sedan is getting a new look, setting new standards for automotive design and engineering. Mazda recently announced that the redesigned Mazda6 sedan will make an appearance at the 2017 LA Auto Show, and it now has sweeping contours, a signature fascia, and a suite of new technologies.
According to Mazda, the Mazda6 is getting a “Mature Elegance” design, which features high-quality interior materials like Japanese Sen Wood and exclusive accents. There’s also a range of updated i-ACTIVSENSE safety systems to give you added protection, while a SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine will be added for the upcoming model year.
“The Mazda6 is the flagship of Mazda’s passenger car lineup,” stated Mazda in a press release. “The development team’s goal for this round of updates, the third since the model was fully redesigned in 2012, was to enhance the daily lives of people who love cars, incorporating premium details and new engineering concepts and technologies based on Mazda’s human-centered design philosophy.”
Mazda’s goal by 2030 is to rethink mobility via sustainable design efforts, and the latest Mazda6 is part of that process. Improved aerodynamics and lightweight materials help to improve gas mileage, while the SKYACTIV engine technology reduces emissions compared to older generations.
We at El Dorado Mazda can’t wait to see the latest Mazda6 on our dealership lot.
Mazda has officially announced that it plans to add smartphone integration compatibility across the lineup, but hasn’t released an official date just yet. The Japanese automaker made the official announcement at the debut of the 2017 Mazda CX-5. Best of all, the new smartphone integration technologies won’t be limited to brand new models.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities will come to the Mazda lineup in the near future. New vehicles won’t be the only models available with the technologies. Drivers will be able to upgrade retroactively with additional hardware. The catch: the vehicle must be equipped with Mazda Connect.
Mazda Connect, the brand’s infotainment system, launched in the 2017 Mazda3 and has made its way to each model through the lineup. Enthusiasts and experts expect something similar to occur with the release of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Japanese automaker has partnered with both smartphone integration systems since 2014, so new software arriving in Mazda vehicles has been a long time coming. While the brand doesn’t have an official timeline just yet, drivers can expect to see more details on the rollout plan in the near future.
We here at El Dorado Mazda are pumped to see such innovative technologies arriving throughout the lineup!
Diesel engines are all the rage in the European automotive market, but they don’t have the same popularity in North America. This is about to change, though, thanks to Mazda. The Japanese carmaker recently announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show that the all-new Mazda CX-5 engine option will be the brand’s SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel.
“We’re confident this engine offers a smart new option for North American drivers who want both performance and fuel economy,” said Akira Marumoto, Mazda’s Executive Vice President and Representative Director.
This new diesel engine will arrive in the North American market for the second half of 2017. It will make the Mazda CX-5 one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class, thanks to the fact that it meets the region’s strict emission standards. In addition, the engine quiets the sound of diesel knock with technology like Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control.
The diesel engine isn’t just fuel-efficient, though—it is also powerful. It revs freely to high RPMs, which means that it will accelerate quickly and provide a fun driving experience for all drivers. When a driver chooses the new Mazda CX-5 engine option, they are sure to fall in love with driving all over again.

As the culmination of Mazda performance engineering, the Mazda MX-5 Cup racecar is one of the most impressive models in the industry. Handcrafted over months and designed explicitly for the track, this Cup car is made to show the full potential of the MX-5, one of the most iconic roadsters around. Believe it or not, the 100th Mazda MX-5 Cup racecar recently sold, helping Mazda to reach a historic milestone.
According to Mazda, the Mazda MX-5 Cup racecar was ordered by the Monticello Motor Club, a world premier race track and country club near New York City. The Cup car comes with 80-percent stock parts, though it does get cold-air intake and exhaust headers. The standard 2.0-liter engine powers this model, though Mazda does remove significant weight by stripping the car of its passenger seat and insulation.
“When we announced this program, we set our target at 50 cars in the U.S. in 2016,” said John Doonan, director of motorsports at Mazda. “To double that goal in less than a year is a huge endorsement by our customers that they see this car as the best value in sports car racing today. We’re thrilled that the growing market for track day cars is seeing the MX-5 Cup car as an ideal purchase.”
The Cup car also gets thick tires to better grip the track, a mandatory roll cage to meet racing specifications, and some unique badging to showcase the Cup-car design. Overall, this 155-horsepower model weighs in at just over 2100 pounds, making it a blur on the track. MX-5 Cup cars often compete annually at the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup and the Road America race among other events.
When Mazda wins awards, they don’t just get one here and there on luck. They often take the whole cake, or at least a generous portion.
