Mazda has officially announced that it plans to add smartphone integration compatibility across the lineup, but hasn’t released an official date just yet. The Japanese automaker made the official announcement at the debut of the 2017 Mazda CX-5. Best of all, the new smartphone integration technologies won’t be limited to brand new models.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities will come to the Mazda lineup in the near future. New vehicles won’t be the only models available with the technologies. Drivers will be able to upgrade retroactively with additional hardware. The catch: the vehicle must be equipped with Mazda Connect.
Mazda Connect, the brand’s infotainment system, launched in the 2017 Mazda3 and has made its way to each model through the lineup. Enthusiasts and experts expect something similar to occur with the release of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Japanese automaker has partnered with both smartphone integration systems since 2014, so new software arriving in Mazda vehicles has been a long time coming. While the brand doesn’t have an official timeline just yet, drivers can expect to see more details on the rollout plan in the near future.
We here at El Dorado Mazda are pumped to see such innovative technologies arriving throughout the lineup!
