Redesigned Mazda6 Sedan to Premiere at 2017 LA Auto Show

The Mazda6 sedan is getting a new look, setting new standards for automotive design and engineering. Mazda recently announced that the redesigned Mazda6 sedan will make an appearance at the 2017 LA Auto Show, and it now has sweeping contours, a signature fascia, and a suite of new technologies.

According to Mazda, the Mazda6 is getting a “Mature Elegance” design, which features high-quality interior materials like Japanese Sen Wood and exclusive accents. There’s also a range of updated i-ACTIVSENSE safety systems to give you added protection, while a SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine will be added for the upcoming model year.

“The Mazda6 is the flagship of Mazda’s passenger car lineup,” stated Mazda in a press release. “The development team’s goal for this round of updates, the third since the model was fully redesigned in 2012, was to enhance the daily lives of people who love cars, incorporating premium details and new engineering concepts and technologies based on Mazda’s human-centered design philosophy.”

Mazda’s goal by 2030 is to rethink mobility via sustainable design efforts, and the latest Mazda6 is part of that process. Improved aerodynamics and lightweight materials help to improve gas mileage, while the SKYACTIV engine technology reduces emissions compared to older generations.

We at El Dorado Mazda can’t wait to see the latest Mazda6 on our dealership lot.

McKinney All-Abilities Playground Opening Next Year

In 2016, a new accessible playground will open in McKinney, just ten minutes from the El Dorado Mazda dealership. We’re so proud to be located in a city whose Rotary Club and city government respond to the needs of McKinney’s disabled children, who make up 10% of the students enrolled in the McKinney Independent School District.

The McKinney All-Abilities Playground will be in Bonnie Werk Park, and construction will begin in spring of 2016, with the playground opening in the second half of the year. The playground will include a wide variety of unique equipment to make it accessible to children with physical disabilities as well as developmental disabilities, from wheelchair users to children living with muscular dystrophy to children with Down’s Syndrome and autism.

The project was approved by the city council in late September. The city will provide the funding to build the playground and will also maintain the park once it opens. Bonnie Werk Park will be expanded with special bathrooms, more parking spaces for vans and buses for group trips, and wheelchair ramps. Over the months, the Rotary Club and city have raised over $560,000 from McKinney citizens to build the park.
