It’s almost time to go back to school – do you feel like you’re ready? Shifting from summer to the school year isn’t always easy. To make it a bit better, we’ve gone ahead and put together a list of back-to-school tips for parents.
Create a home file system. At the beginning of the school year, you will be getting a lot of paperwork from the school. Creating a file system at home will make it easier for you or your child to find the syllabus, permission slip, or reference material that’s needed at the moment.
Stock up on extra school supplies. You probably have the school supplies’ list from your children’s teacher on hand, but why not buy some extra supplies while you’re out shopping? Doing so will make sure your children are never short on poster board, index cards, or whatever else they might need, reducing the likelihood of late night moments of panic.
Keep track of your family’s schedule. Whether its sports, music lessons, or a big school project, try and keep track of your family’s schedule by using a planner. This can either be a large calendar that is posted in a common area or your own weekly one that can be carried in a purse. By writing down all the major events coming up, you will be able to get to where you need to go without too much stress.
If you’re in the market for a new family-hauler to start the school season off right, visit us at El Dorado Mazda.
Mazda is changing things up a bit for the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata — and we have to say, we can’t wait to get behind the wheel of it. From a more powerful powertrain to a better steering wheel, here’s a look at a few of the changes that you will find in the newest Miata.
More power. For the 2019 model year, the Miata’s 2.0-liter gasoline engine will be getting a power boost. Rather than offering 155 horsepower, it will now offer 181, making it significantly more fun to drive.
More colors. Mazda likes to give you plenty of choice when it comes to interior and exterior colors — and now, you will have even more options. The exact color options haven’t been released just yet, but we’re guessing they’ll be flashy and suited to this roadster.
New safety options. You will find that there are some changes to the safety options on the 2019 Miata. Most noticeably, the brand has added features like Smart City Brake Support, which helps drivers avoid frontal collisions while driving at slow speeds.
Better steering wheel. For the first-time ever, Mazda is offering a telescoping steering wheel on the Miata. That means those drivers that are on the taller side can get even more comfortable when they’re behind the wheel of this vehicle.
Test drive the 2019 MX-5 Miata when it arrives on our lot here at El Dorado Mazda later this year.
When you’re looking for a car, do you consider its “cool” factor? Well, if you do, then you should be shopping at El Dorado Mazda. That’s because Kelley Blue Book recently gave the Mazda3 a spot on its list of the 10 Coolest cars under $20,000 for 2018.
This isn’t the first time that the Kelley Blue Book’s Coolest Car list has included the Mazda3. In fact, since this car was debuted in 2003, it has appeared on the list each year. Not to mention the fact that this is the fifth year in a row that the Mazda3 has actually topped the list. That’s 15 years of superior coolness — you can’t beat that.
To earn the title of a “cool car,” each model must be fun to drive and fun to own. Without a doubt, the Mazda3 is both of those things. Michael Harley, executive director for Kelley Blue Book, agrees: “Widely regarded as the best-looking and most fun-to-drive vehicle in its segment, the Mazda3 is the all-time champion of our budget-minded cool cars.”
The Mazda3 combines a svelte, athletic styling with a slew of standard interior and safety features that are sure to turn consumers’ heads.

Auto fans recognize Mazda for its signature look, which utilizes the brands well-known Kodo design language. There’s no doubt that it’s easy to recognize a Mazda when you’re driving down the street. Now, though, the brand is looking to branch out beyond its usual look—and it does just that with the Kai Concept.
During the New York Auto Show earlier this year, the Mazda Kai Concept introduced a brand-new design language called the Single Motion design—also referred to as “The Speed of Light.” It supplies smooth surfaces, highlighting the way that light and shadow reflects off the vehicle, while also hinting at the model’s athletic performance.
This departure from the previous Double Motion styling, which utilizes strong, accented edges rather than smooth lines, is worth a note—especially since it showcases Mazda’s ability to innovate. It also brings a futuristic feeling to the brand’s lineup, making it easy to get excited to see what the Japanese carmaker has in store down the road.
The Kai Concept itself hasn’t received a production or release date just yet, and we’re not sure if it ever will, but it certainly means that Mazda is taking progressive steps in the design realm. Stop by El Dorado Mazda for more information about this exciting style direction, and to test drive a new Mazda model.
When you’re shopping for a new car, it’s likely you want the best of the best. Well, that now means you should be checking out the Mazda models we have on our lot because Mazda recently achieved the Best Car Brand of 2018 by U.S. News & World Report for the third year in a row.
Mazda managed to come out on top again despite having a small-sized lineup of vehicles. According to Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars, this was due to its “top-notch performance that puts an emphasis on direct, sporty handling, as well as quality interiors that are more upscale than their price tags might suggest.”
The Mazda3 outshone the competition, thanks to its impressive efficiency numbers, premium-level cabin, innovative infotainment system, and available hatchback body style. Deaton noted, “The Mazda3 is one of the sportiest compact cars on the market, but it also offers the civility and comfort required to make it an excellent daily commuting partner.”
U.S. News determined the winner of this prestigious award by averaging the overall score of every brand’s model that fit the award class. These scores are based on the publication’s own rankings, which e reliability data, safety scores, and the consensus of the automotive press to determine a vehicle’s score.

Mazda CX-3 might be the smallest crossover in the Mazda lineup, but its new redesign is about to make a big splash. Earlier this year during the New York International Auto Show, Mazda unveiled the Mazda CX-3 redesign and it’s a lot edgier and more refined than it was previously.
On the outside, the CX-3 looks more elegant than before with a few subtle differences. A new grille and chrome accents give the crossover a premium feel, while the Piano black accents, cylindrical taillight design and the 18-inch wheels with a multi-faceted spoke design give it an edgy look.
The inside has seen even more drastic changes, including a new design for the center console, wider front seats, available leather seating, and a new rear-seat center armrest with cupholders. Mazda’s also made the cabin quieter with thicker door panels, rear-door glass, and headliner.
Along with these changes, the powertrain and suspension has also seen a bit of a revamp. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine has been tweaked slightly to offer better fuel-efficiency and more torque, bumping its numbers to 148 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Low-profile tires will help reduce braking distances, while the suspension and the power steering has undergone a fine tuning.

With an award-winning lineup including vehicles like the Mazda3, Mazda6, and MX-5 Miata, Mazda has positioned itself to crush the competition—and critics have taken notice. In fact, U.S. News & World Report recently named Mazda the Best Car Brand of 2018. The automaker is no stranger to this recognition; in fact, 2018 marks the third year in a row that Mazda has claimed this fiercely coveted title.
Why has Mazda won this distinction for three years running? Managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars, Jamie Page Deaton, seems to think it is the performance angle that the manufacturer has taken with its models, including its sporty handling. Deaton also points to the quality of the interiors of Mazda models, especially the Mazda3, Mazda6, and MX-5 Miata—without sacrificing the brand’s characteristically low prices. Specifically, Deaton highlighted the Mazda3 model’s efficiency and easy-to-use infotainment system.
So how was Mazda chosen scientifically? U.S. News & World Report editors looked at each brand’s lineup of cars only (which excluded trucks, SUVs, etc.), and averaged their scores, which are based on reliability data, safety testing, and critical reviews. Mazda came out with the top scores once again.

If you want to experience an unforgettable St. Patrick’s Day this year, all you need to do is drive 40 minutes south from El Dorado Mazda in McKinney, Texas down to Dallas. The city will be celebrating its 39th annual Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival on Saturday, March 17th, 2018.
The popular spring event is presented by the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association (GAABA), a local Texas 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All of the proceeds from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will go to GAABA. The Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest of its kind in the Southwest. The two-mile parade route starts at Greenville at Blackwell St. and ends at Yale Blvd/SMU Blvd by the 75 Central Expressway. The parade will begin marching at 11am.
This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is expected to feature over 90 parade floats, over 1,700 parade participants, and should have over 125,000 onlookers in attendance.
The Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade is made possible by sponsors like Mavericks, Uber, 97.1 The Eagle, iHeart Radio and More. Don’t miss this Southwest tradition this year! Join in as a participant, or just enjoy as a spectator. Either way, it promises to be memorable.
While much of the automotive industry is spending its time dreaming of futuristic self-driving vehicles, Mazda has a different priority in mind. The brand—whose slogan is “Driving Matters”— believes in a world where buyers still enjoy the experience of driving. As evidence, a recent Mazda driving study that polled European drivers discovered that 66% of drivers across Europe would like to drive their own vehicle, even if self-driving cars are readily available.
Those polled in the UK specifically were even more supportive of a future filled with human drivers. A total of 70% of those polled in the UK voted against a future ruled by self-driving cars.
That’s not to say that the Mazda vehicles at El Dorado Mazda and other dealerships won’t have any autonomous technology. The brand prioritizes technology as much as it does smooth engineering and sleek design. But instead of striving for completely autonomous vehicles, the company aims to provide autonomous features that can work with the driver as tools for extra awareness of potential collisions.
Mazda firmly believes in the pleasure of driving—especially when it comes to its lineup, which you can find at El Dorado Mazda. Currently, the company has no foreseeable plans to take the driving experience away from its loyal customers, and we’re glad for that.
This past October at the Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda unveiled two new concept cars: the Kai Concept and the new Vision Coupe. They both flaunt bodies with futuristic, sporty contours and styling.
The Vision Coupe is a low-sitting, modern sports car that is both elegant and ferocious. It has a beak-inspired front end that is complemented by its wing-like contours on the sides. The side mirrors are replaced by cameras, and the rear end has inset taillights and tailpipes.
Its interior is similarly smooth and luxurious, with rounded finishes in high-quality materials such as leather on the seats and wheel and attractive wood trim. The Vision Coupe’s interior foregrounds the wheel and gear stick, with the console spanning thinly across the dash.
The Kai Concept is similar to the Vision Coupe, with smooth lines contrasting interesting angles, recessed headlights, taillights, tailpipes, and cameras instead of side mirrors. The Kai Concept features Mazda’s innovative and state-of-the-art SKYACTIV-X engine, along with two elegant front-to-back sunroofs, which offer sweeping light from the windshield to the rear of the car.
We at El Dorado Mazda are excited for the future of Mazda cars, and we think you should be too.
