NHTSA Gives 2018 Mazda CX-9 Top Safety Ratings

2018 Mazda CX-9

The 2018 Mazda CX-9 is more than just a pretty face — it’s a safe SUV, too. This three-row SUV was recently awarded the highest possible safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), receiving five starts overall for crashworthiness.

To earn this rating, the CX-9 had to undergo the NHTSA’s rigorous collision tests. It receive a combination of four and five stars in the frontal crash, side crash, and rollover tests to help give it its five-star overall rating.

One of the big factors in helping the CX-9 get such a great rating is thanks to its i-ACTIVSENSE® suite of driver-assistance technologies. This system offers ten different innovations including Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keep Assist, and Forward Obstruction Warning — but that’s not all.

Along with this safety technology suite, the CX-9 now comes standard with Smart City Brake. This is a new system that automatically applies the brakes if it senses an obstruction or hazard in front of it while traveling below 19 mph.

These active features aren’t the only thing protecting CX-9 passengers — Mazda also employs a SKYACTIV®-Body designed for passive safety. It has a ring structure and straight frame rails that help absorb impact when a collision occurs, helping you drive with more confidence than before.

Back-to-School Tips to Make Your School Year Better

It’s almost time to go back to school – do you feel like you’re ready? Shifting from summer to the school year isn’t always easy. To make it a bit better, we’ve gone ahead and put together a list of back-to-school tips for parents.

Create a home file system. At the beginning of the school year, you will be getting a lot of paperwork from the school. Creating a file system at home will make it easier for you or your child to find the syllabus, permission slip, or reference material that’s needed at the moment.

Stock up on extra school supplies. You probably have the school supplies’ list from your children’s teacher on hand, but why not buy some extra supplies while you’re out shopping? Doing so will make sure your children are never short on poster board, index cards, or whatever else they might need, reducing the likelihood of late night moments of panic.

Keep track of your family’s schedule. Whether its sports, music lessons, or a big school project, try and keep track of your family’s schedule by using a planner. This can either be a large calendar that is posted in a common area or your own weekly one that can be carried in a purse. By writing down all the major events coming up, you will be able to get to where you need to go without too much stress.
