Entering into its third model year, the 2018 Mazda CX-3 gets a few updates. This year’s Mazda CX-3 updates include new standard features and an upgraded chassis. You can find the 2018 CX-3 at El Dorado Mazda now.
One of the most significant updates is the addition of Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support on all trims. This feature comes standard on all trims now. Smart City Brake Support works in low speed conditions, such as city driving up to 19 mph. It uses an infrared laser mounted on the front of the car to detect the vehicle in front. If the system detects an imminent collision, it will prepare the brakes. If the driver does not respond in time, the brakes will be applied to attempt to avoid, or at least reduce the severity of, a collision.
To help improve the Mazda CX-3’s quiet ride, the 2018 model will come with key chassis changes. This includes revised suspension bushings, adjusted dampers, new front lower control arms, and new engine mounts. In addition, thicker rear glass and better door seals contribute to a quieter ride overall.
Come experience all that the 2018 Mazda CX-3 has to offer with a test drive at El Dorado Mazda today.

Dropping off your kids for class in the morning? Here are some back-to-school safety tips you should keep in mind to keep your kids—and everyone else’s—safe and sound.
Go Slow: School zones have slower speed limits for a reason. Make sure you obey the speed limit and follow all traffic laws while in a school zone to prevent a collision and ensure students get safely to school.
Watch for Pedestrians: Some children walk or ride their bikes to school. Pay attention to cross-walks and crossing guards, but there may also be some pedestrians jay-walking, so be aware of where you’re driving.
No Cell Phones: It may be tempting to call work to let them know you’ll be late or get some errands out of the way as you drop off your kids, but limit distractions by staying off the phone.
Be Mindful of the School Bus: The school bus should not be passed while it’s stopped and has its flashing red lights on, but you should also be careful of driving around and near a bus regardless of whether it’s stopping or moving.
Follow these back-to-school safety tips from us here at El Dorado Mazda to ensure your students get home and to school safely.
In case you didn’t know, Mazda CX-5 safety features include a range of intelligent upgrades, which is a reason the CX-5 earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Top Safety Pick+ rating is the highest designation a car can receive from the IIHS, and this award is evidence of the impressive safety features possessed by the CX-5.
According to Mazda, the CX-5 has received this award from the IIHS five years in a row. Safety features include Smart City Brake Support, standard LED headlights, and more. In order to receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, the CX-5 had to earn a “good” rating in five areas, as well as “advanced” in front crash prevention and “acceptable” or “good” in headlight ratings.
“Our Mazda Proactive Safety Philosophy guides us to develop cars and crossover SUVs that are nimble and direct-feeling to help a driver avoid incidents altogether. Our vehicles are designed and engineered to help protect the driver and passengers if a collision happens,” said Masashi Otsuka, VP of research and development at Mazda North America.
Other new safety features include Mazda Radar Cruise Control to help you maintain a safe following distance, Lane Keep Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition to ensure you stay alert on the road. To see the range of new safety features on the 2017 Mazda CX-5, visit El Dorado Mazda.
The latest 2017 Mazda CX-9 safety features are more extensive than ever before, including updated driver assist technologies. In fact, the Mazda CX-9 recently earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), one of the top awards in the industry. With three rows of seating, tons of power, and extensive safety, the Mazda CX-9 is perfect for virtually any driver.
According to Mazda, the car earned “good” ratings on collision and occupancy tests, including the latest headlight standards from the IIHS. With standard LED lighting, the Mazda CX-9 also ensures you always have great visibility. Other features include optional systems like automatic emergency braking, Smart Brake Support, predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive, and more.
“We wanted to create a vehicle that could delight couples or shuttle families with…effortlessness,” said Mazda program manager Masashi Otsuka. “Now, we are proud to say that the IIHS has recognized CX-9 for its safety, highlighting the achievements of our engineering team.”
In addition to remarkable safety features, the Mazda CX-9 excels in other areas. The model was named one of the “10Best Trucks and SUVs” by Car and Driver, and it also earned a spot on WardsAuto’s “10 Best Interiors” list.

Your credit score is a numerical rating that determines your creditworthiness. In other words, it lets lenders know how reliable you are as a borrower. Not only can a bad credit score lead to application denials, but it may also increase your interest rates in the long run. There are some basic steps you can take to increase your credit score.
According to myFICO, the first thing you should do is regularly check your credit score. You can get a free copy once every 12 months by going to annualcreditreport.com or you can sign up for a service through a company by paying for your score. It’s important to stay up-to-date so you can notice any inconsistencies on your report, an issue that happens more than you might think.
Next, pay your bills on time and sign up for autopay. Payment history is the largest factor in your score (about 35%), which means that if you miss payments it can have serious consequences. If you are having trouble paying bills, contact creditors and/or seek a credit counselor.
You should also keep balances low on “revolving credit” accounts, like credit cards, and don’t open too many accounts too rapidly. Many young creditors try to improve their score by opening more accounts, but this can backfire if you borrow too much at one time. If you do get new credit accounts, try to focus on positive types of credit like mortgages or student loans, as opposed to credit cards.
For more information about credit scores or financing, talk to our experts in the finance department at El Dorado Mazda. Our goal is to get you behind the wheel of your dream car and save you as much money as possible. Maintaining your credit scores is one of the best ways to do that.
The US market doesn’t seem to care much about diesel engines. Oftentimes, diesel gas is cheaper, diesel-powered vehicles are more efficient, and engines running on diesel fuel are more powerful. So, what gives? Whatever the case, Mazda has plans to change that soon with the new Mazda CX-5 diesel engine. Many automakers tend to keep their diesel engine offerings to the pickup truck lineups, but with a diesel option now on one of the brand’s most popular and trendy crossovers, Mazda is hoping that 10% of Mazda CX-5 buyers will opt for the diesel engine.
The 2.2-liter diesel engine isn’t coming to the Mazda CX-5’s lineup until this fall, but that’s not stopping the manufacturer from setting goals in advance. Considering the Mazda CX-5 sold about 112,000 units last year, that means Mazda has a target of about 11,500 sales of the diesel-powered model. Mazda is currently awaiting EPA approval for the SkyActiv-D engine, but because its engineers tuned the engine to comply with strict environmental regulations, Mazda reps are confident the diesel option will get a pass.
Pricing and EPA fuel economy estimates for the Mazda CX-5 diesel engine is not yet known, but officials say it will only be available on upper-range trim levels. Mazda says this will also give the company the opportunity to observe American consumers’ buying habits so they can adjust their long-term business strategy.

Warm weather means longer days, shorter nights, bare feet on pavement, and just-crisp-enough breezy evenings that are absolutely perfect for hosting a bonfire with friends. Hosting a kid-friendly bonfire party is an awesome way to help your little ones socialize over the summer months while also enjoying the weather. Here are some great ideas for activities.
This one is a classic. If you know any campfire songs of your own, it can be fun to get the kids and their friends involved and teach them an old favorite. Bonus points if it has interactive movements.
S’mores are obviously a fan-favorite, but hot dogs are also a great food to roast over an open fire. Just make sure they get cooked all the way through.
Scary Stories – or Not
Telling spooky ghost stories around the fire has also withstood the test of time, but if you’re afraid to upset the children, choose to make up stories instead. Start by having one person start with a sentence, and go around the circle having everyone add on.
Capture the Flag (with Glow Sticks)
If the kids get bored of sitting around the fire, you can mix things up by handing out glow sticks and having them play Capture the Glow Stick rather than standard Capture the Flag. It’s a fun way to take advantage of the dim light of evening.
Having a kid-friendly bonfire party is a cinch. The kids can be in charge of making their own food and having everyone together in the same space cultivates a fun and close atmosphere on a warm summer evening.
