Mazda has teamed up with the Challenged Athletes Foundation as sponsor for the 10th Anniversary Million Dollar Challenge, which aims to raise $1 million or more to help people with physical challenges live active lifestyles through sports and fitness.
The Challenge will kick off on Saturday, October 10, in San Francisco with more than 125 cyclists, including professional athletes, celebrities, and 15 athletes with physical challenges. Together, they’ll trek down the California coastline on a 620-mile journey over the course of a week. That makes us wish we were there instead of at El Dorado Mazda!
Each participant has pledged to raise $12,500 or more to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which the organization will use to fund grants for adaptive sports equipment, mentoring programs and sports clinics, and training and competition expenses.
Mazda also sponsored the event last year and helped raise $1.24 million. “The dedication of each cyclist to raise awareness and support for the organization is truly commendable, and we’re proud to be a part of the team,” said Tamara Mlynarczyk, Mazda Foundation program director.
